I am a compassionate and enthusiastic teacher dedicated to helping my students reach for the stars! I am dedicated to nurturing a love for music in each student and aim to positively enhance the student's strength, dexterity, and technique while building a lasting interest in music.

I have 8 years of experience teaching clarinet and saxophone to students of all ages and abilities. My students consistently receive excellent scores on NYSSMA evaluations and have advanced through District, Region, and All-State ensembles throughout the U.S. Past students have been accepted to music programs at Penn State University, University of New Hampshire, and George Washington University.

Music with Bengi is a voice, music theory and beginning piano studio. It is located in the Upper East Side, Manhattan (New York). In addition to private lessons, Music with Bengi offers concerts, audition preparation and recording opportunities throughout the year.

Bengi is a former Metropolitan Opera singer with 25 years of experience in music. Her majors in conservatory included piano, bassoon and voice. Although she is classically trained, Bengi enjoys teaching in all genres and to all ages.

I am a voice teacher, professional bass-baritone, and scholar of historical vocal pedagogy. My voice studio is rooted in the old Italian school teachings of Manuel García and Francesco Lamperti, which are illuminated through and the revolutionary perspective of Alfred A. Tomatis, a pioneer in psychoacoustics. I have appeared in eighty-two productions with the New York City Opera and Metropolitan Opera, and on Broadway with City Center Encores! My experience as soloist and ensemble member in both classical and musical theatre genres gives me a unique perspective; the knowledge and skill I bring to students is not second-hand speculation, but that of a seasoned artist with more than twenty-five years experience onstage and in the voice studio. I love helping students unlock what music means to them. Each student comes with their own strengths, interests, and learning styles, and together we design a custom musical pathway—so they can cultivate confidence and focus. Although I have taught students ages 3 to 70, I am particularly drawn to working with teens and adults to help them expand their life experiences through music.

In my studio, students play works by Bartok, Satie, Liszt, Granados, and Chopin. Beyond classical repertoire, I also teach students how to improvise on their favorite pop songs, everything from by Adele and Maroon 5 to Broadway musical show tunes such as Hadestown and Wicked. Students also explore ensemble collaboration, family duet performances, and more.

My students’ successes include winning first prizes in the International Grande Music Competition, the BMTG Intercontinental Competition, and being named to the Honors Program at The Piano Teachers Congress of New York. Others have been accepted into the undergraduate music programs at NYU and Eastman School of Music. In addition, some of my high-school students have written and produced original songs using Logic Pro and published them on music streaming services. I am so proud of what ALL of my students achieve.

To celebrate their learning, we present biannual concerts that help foster our supportive studio community. In addition, families often offer to host these concerts at their homes to make the events even more memorable.

I am a violin and viola teacher from New York and a registered member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. I am an active performer of contemporary and classical music, and my commitment is to instill my students with both a passion for playing music and an outstanding technical foundation.

My teaching method is tailored to each student's individual learning style and motivation for playing. The first question I will ask at every first lesson is: what music do you love? This can be one song - a nursery rhyme, classical melody, or popular song - or a genre of music. Regardless of age, I believe that the most effective path for learning violin or viola is to start with the music!

For younger children, I suggest beginning with the Suzuki method in order to establish strong musical and technical fundamentals. The Suzuki curriculum is also popular across many music programs in New York, so it provides beginning violinists an opportunity to play music with their peers. For adolescents and adults, I place an earlier emphasis on designing a curriculum based on their musical interests, with equal focus devoted to technique. I also teach improvisation at the beginning stages to all students to encourage free musical expression.

Students with experience playing violin or viola are absolutely welcome. Students will have the opportunity to perform what they have been working on at an annual spring concert, which includes a piano accompanist.... See More
