I am a freelance performer and voice instructor living and working in the greater Boston area. My vocal training began early; I started to sing in church when I was four years old, and began performing regularly in musicals with a local youth theater company when I was nine. My love for music and performing only grew from there, leading eventually to a Bachelor of Music in Voice (Gordon College) and a Master of Music in Opera (Longy School of Music, with Distinction). Performing is one of the greatest joys of my life, and my experience encompasses a broad range of opera, operetta, traditional and interactive theater, and film. Some of my recent favorite performances include lead roles in Lakme and Die Fledermaus, as well as the lead role in the world premiere of the newly composed opera, The Little Blue One.

I have been teaching voice privately for ten years, and currently teach students in my home as well as maintain a studio at Brookwood School in Manchester, MA. I have taught students ages 5-68, and have worked with beginning as well as highly advanced singers. I love the prospect of helping a student achieve their personal musical goals, and every lesson is geared towards attaining these objectives. I am willing to work with all styles of singing, but my approach is classical. I firmly believe that freeing the breath and the voice from tension produces the most beautiful, appealing sound, regardless of the type of music one is singing. My main goals in lessons are to foster good breath control, accurate intonation, expression, and musicality.

I also teach beginning piano to students grades pre K-4.

All of my students have the opportunity to perform in an annual private studio recital, and select students are given the privilege of competing in the annual NATS classical and musical theater competitions. Students are also eligible to receive tuition discounts for Rising Stars Camp.

I have flexible availability for lessons Monday-Friday. Rates are $30/half hour, $45/forty five minutes, and $60/hour.

I am a professional violinist with 20 + years of teaching experience. My music studio is located in Montgomery County, MD. Graduates of my studio have been admitted to prestigious conservatories such as Oberlin Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Rutgers Mason Gross School of Music and others and have won many solo competitions throughout the United States.
I have a deep love and appreciation for music and I enjoy teaching my student from beginners to very advanced or adults. All levels are welcome! My studio is geared towards the motivated student seeking a well-rounded enjoyable, yet detailed, music education that focuses on both excellence and artistry.
Special emphasis is placed on building and maintaining a strong classical music base, which is the foundation for all other styles and techniques found in music. Additionally, students are exposed to learning concepts in ear training, sight singing, music theory, music history, folk music and improvisation. This enables students to be exposed to other areas of music such as composing, arranging, conducting, etc., thereby giving each student the unique opportunity to branch out and explore endless opportunities.
All teaching is conducted in a supportive yet challenging environment. Each student is encouraged to think for themselves and develop their own judgment through the development of their ear and musical comprehension.
Student recitals I arranged twice a year to showcase my students talent and progress and encourage their love for music.
I also organize other activities for my students such as Master classes.
I offer a half hour lesson for beginners, a 45 min. lesson for intermediate and an hour lesson for intermediate to advanced students.
Above all, I strongly encourage enjoyment of music.

For the younger kids (3+years old), I developed an early start program called “Violin Virtuoso Early Start” designer to achieve fast results while having fun!

I love helping students unlock what music means to them. Each student comes with their own strengths, interests, and learning styles, and together we design a custom musical pathway—so they can cultivate confidence and focus. Although I have taught students ages 3 to 70, I am particularly drawn to working with teens and adults to help them expand their life experiences through music.

In my studio, students play works by Bartok, Satie, Liszt, Granados, and Chopin. Beyond classical repertoire, I also teach students how to improvise on their favorite pop songs, everything from by Adele and Maroon 5 to Broadway musical show tunes such as Hadestown and Wicked. Students also explore ensemble collaboration, family duet performances, and more.

My students’ successes include winning first prizes in the International Grande Music Competition, the BMTG Intercontinental Competition, and being named to the Honors Program at The Piano Teachers Congress of New York. Others have been accepted into the undergraduate music programs at NYU and Eastman School of Music. In addition, some of my high-school students have written and produced original songs using Logic Pro and published them on music streaming services. I am so proud of what ALL of my students achieve.

To celebrate their learning, we present biannual concerts that help foster our supportive studio community. In addition, families often offer to host these concerts at their homes to make the events even more memorable.

I teach private in-studio and online lessons in voice for all levels for ages 10-110 and beginner piano lessons. Younger students can be considered on a case by case basis.

Outstanding Students: In October 2007, ALL 16 of Margarita's participating students, won a Gold Medal Award at Dorothy Sutton's Performance Festival, West Chester University.
May 2011 - 2 Student Finalists at the International "Young Classical Virtuoso of Tomorrow" Competition, in Haverford, Pa. Only 9 medals are awarded to over 250 participants from the USA and abroad.
In March 2012, one of Margarita's 6 year old students earned the Grand-Prix award in the Concerto Competition of the Concert Festival in New York. She later performed as a soloist with the Long Island Chamber Orchestra.
May 2018 - 3rd Place award at the NEMTA (North East Music Teacher's Association)
March 2019 - A Duet of V.Gavrilin's Tarantella earned a Gold Medal in the Golden Key International Piano Competition and performance at Carnegie Hall, NY. Two individual performances, also earned Bronze Medals.
