Bulgarian-born pianist Margarita Gramaticova has earned degrees from the Sofia Music School and the Plovdiv Academy of Music studying with Emilia Kaneva and Milena Mollova (protégé of Emil Gilels). She was a prizewinner at the Svetoslav Obretenov Competition and has performed at the Sofia New Bulgarian Music Festival as well as concerts in Greece and Italy. In addition to being a soloist, she is much in demand as a coach and accompanist. She taught for two years at the National Conservatory of Music in Athens, Greece. Ms. Gramaticova moved to the USA and is currently teaching piano privately in Northern Virginia. She performed in 2005 at the Kennedy Center with the Washington Ballet and The Washington Post commented on " her sensitive handling of Chopin." She performed an all-Chopin concert at the Anderson House in DC and recently in Morocco. Her recording of the Chopin Ballades was released in 2007. She performed in Summer 2008 in Puerto Rico with members of the San Juan Symphony Orchestra. In 2010, she performed with the Fairfax Chorale Society and pianist Raffi Kasparian in a two-piano arrangement of Karl Orff's Carmina Burana. I teach Russian Piano methods in combination with American aproach. Any ages and levels. My Masters degree is Piano Performance and Piano pedagogy from Gnessin Academy in Moscow, Russia. My goal is to open up the students potential to the highest level, motivate them work hard, but have a fun doing it. I cover music theory and history, ear training and solfeggio.
